The most important is to realize and understand that Scalp Micropigmentation is a cosmetic procedure that will not help to regrow hair. The basic objective of the procedure is to cover the effect of hair loss and baldness under professional scalp tattoo. What is more, the effect is not achieved during one session.

Although the results are permanent, they can fade slightly over the years. SMP can last about 3-5 years, so we recommend a touch-up if you start to see fading or not content with the current result.

Fading can be expected if you are exposed to the sun a lot, sweat heavily on a regular basis, and swim often. Using mild shampoo and sunscreen may help with the longevity of your SMP.

In most cases, yes, we recommend it for a standard SMP hair tattoo but Scalp Micropigmentation can also work on long hair to give the appearance of thicker hair if you have enough remaining hair. A thickening treatment works the same as on a shaved head by mimicking the appearance of hair follicles so that less of the scalp is visible. If there is not enough remaining hair for the treatment to blend with, we may advise that you would need to shave.

The pain is minimal and described as a lot less painful than a regular tattoo, still, discomfort levels vary from person to person. ​

On average, it takes 2-3 sessions to complete the treatment and create the desired look. The length of each session varies, depending on the amount of work required but on average it takes about 2-4 hours for each session. There is also at least 7 days interval between each session to allow the scalp to fully heal.
